About the Challenge

The Phoenix Phearsome Phour is a self-supported summit challenge built around four of Phoenix's signature mountains: Camelback Mountain, Piestewa Peak, North Mountain, and Shaw Butte. The goal is simple to state and hard to finish: summit all four peaks the same number of times between 5am and 11pm, with each tier raising how many reps per peak you need.

How It Works

  1. Pick your target tier before you start. See Tiers.
  2. Start no earlier than 5am at your first trailhead.
  3. Summit each peak the number of times your tier requires, in any order, by any legal route. See Routes.
  4. Log your times and submit your result. See How to Submit.

Why It's Hard

Phoenix heat, full-sun exposure, and the drive time between trailheads turn this into as much of a logistics challenge as a physical one.
